The Humour Foundation again celebrated ´National Smile Day´ on 1 April, thanks to the generous support of our Principal Smile Day Partner, Cadbury Schweppes.
Hospital celebrations in every state, Brisbane Airport ´Smile Tax´, fundraising dinners, website donations and other fundraising events around Australia were all part of the Smile Day spectacular. We were all smiles when Tasmania completed ´Miles for Smiles´ with such overwhelming support.
As our annual promotional day, Smile Day ensures that smiles become contagious throughout Australia. Clown Doctors were prescribing double doses of smiles to patients all over Australia as Smile Day approached which turned into lots of giggles on the day and, as we know, laughter is the best medicine for everyone!
THANK YOU to all our sponsors and supporters, you are the ones that put the smiles on sick children´s faces and make life more bearable for them and their families. With your support on Smile Day and throughout the year, you can help us spread more smiles to sick children in hospitals.

Miles for Smiles
Tremendous community spirit in Tasmania made another ´Miles for Smiles´ event on to remember and Smile about!
Cadbury Schweppes employees, Commonwealth Bank staff, RSL members and local businesses teamed up to ensure that the 3rd ´Miles for Smiles´ fundraising walk from Burnie to Claremont raised not only money, but the corners of mouths!
Those who participated took every step with energy, enthusiasm and a smile. Each day brought new walkers to join the madding crowds and much needed funds were donated with pleasure. The organisation of the event was second to none and all went smoothly to make for a very enjoyable time. All parties focused on how sick children would benefit from their blisters! Clown Doctors were on hand to ensure blisters, aches and pains were injected with laughter or massaged with smiles!
At the end of the walk, the dancing started at the Hobart dinner. Everyone felt a real sense of achievement and took the Miles for Smiles fundraising to an even higher level by collecting corporate and community donations, running auctions and organising fantastic prize-winning raffles.
Thank you to all involved for raising an unbelievable amount and to Cadbury´s who dollar matched the funds to bring the total to $102,000.
A dose of Smiles goes a long way and Tasmania raised awareness of Clown Doctors and the benefits of humour, proving that laughter is the best medicine!
Marriott Gives Generously on Smile Day

Clown Doctors Kerfuffle, Fruit Loop and B Looney had a special treat on Smile Day when they went to the Marriott Hotel in Brisbane and received a cheque for $69,000. This was money raised from $1 for every breakfast sold - keep eating your breakfast at the Marriott folks! A fantastic effort.
