Clown Doctors on the go
‘Cat’ scans, ‘funny bone’ checks and ‘red nose’ transplants have been part of the fun when Clown Doctors TM visited regional hospitals over the last few months.
Enabling Clown Doctors to tour all over Australia is a Commonwealth Bank ´return old uniforms´ drive. Staff were asked to return old uniforms, and in return the bank promised to donate $30,000 for a Clown Doctors Australian regional tour!
The tour kicked off in Western Australia with visits to towns such as Busselton and Broome in December.
Hugh Harley, Group Executive Retail Banking Services, said, “We are delighted to be funding this Clown Doctors tour, which will see them visit some regional hospitals and branches for the first time. We are so proud of our long association with the Clown Doctors, who have helped so many sick Australian children over the years.”
Clown Doctors also visited hospitals in the North-west of Tasmania in October in conjunction with the ‘Miles for Smiles’ fundraising walk. Funds raised at the Local Government Conference made this possible.
Clown Doctors now visit Gold Coast Hospital every month, thanks to local support from Rotary and The Old Bastards.
Dr Ready and Dr Kerfuffle have fun with a young patient at Gold Coast Hospital.
Clown Doctors also visited hospitals in NSW during October bringing fun and laughter to patients in hospitals in several towns including Armidale, Coffs Harbour and Tweed Heads and a clinic in Cherbourg Qld for indigenous children.
