AMBASSADOR CLOWNING

In 2000, Dr Fruit-loop, Dr Sniggles and Dr B Loony  visited  East Timor to help people find their smiles again.  The Asia-Pacific Support Collective arranged visits to The Red Cross Hospital and various clinics in Dili, an orphanage, and outlying villages. Evidence of the recent devastation was everywhere, and medical supplies and basic necessities in short supply.

The clowns took donated medical supplies to distribute to clinics and the hospital. Dr Fruit-loop is also a ‘real’ doctor, and held impromptu clinics in outlying villages. No-one seemed to mind that he was dressed as a clown!

Children in Australia decorated bags for children in East Timor. They contained supplies such as pens, pencils, paper, combs, balls and fruit bars.

In March 2002, Dr B Loony joined an international group of clowns of 21 clowns on the Patchwork for Peace Mission to Kabul, Afghanistan. The aim was to bring joy laughter and compassion to the people of Kabul. They visited hospitals, rehabilitation centres for land mine victims, orphanages and schools.   Patch Adams also joined the trip. The clowns took 10 tonnes of medical supplies, food clothes and school supplies. The mission was conceived and organised by Stefano Mosser in Rome.
